Who should be the recipient of the 2019 Equity Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Foxtel?
Terry Norris and Julia Blake at the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Awards ceremony.
This year is the 10th annual presentation of this unique award which was launched in 2009 to honour the achievements of a leading Australian performer who has had a distinguished career and been an inspiration to other Australian performers.
It is an award nominated by performers – an opportunity for those in the industry to give due recognition to one of their own; not only for what they have achieved during their career as a performer, but as someone who has, by their own example, demonstrated great leadership and provided mentoring that has been of enormous benefit and inspiration to our colleagues. They have made a lifelong commitment to Equity and the industry as a whole and the kind of person everyone wants to work with and for those lucky to have done so, it has been an extraordinarily memorable experience.
Last year’s joint recipients were Terry Norris and Julia Blake. They were praised for their impressive careers, spanning five decades respectively, and their outstanding support of Equity campaigns, particularly the battle for Australian stories on our screens and stages.
Is there someone you feel is an incredible, talented and generous performer but also known as a great mentor and a supporter of the next generation? Hurry, because nominations close at midnight on Sunday, September 8.
The final decision will be made by the MEAA Equity National Performers Committee.
