CASTS OF UTOPIA, THE PRINCIPAL AND PETER ALLEN: NOT THE BOY NEXT DOOR WIN 6TH ANNUAL EQUITY ENSEMBLE AWARDS!

on .

Three Australian television casts have been selected from an impressive group of nominees to win the 6th Annual Equity Ensemble Awards.

It was the performances in the second series of ABC comedy Utopia, SBS drama The Principal and Seven miniseries Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door that most impressed Australian actors.

Established by the Equity Foundation in 2011, these peer-voted awards honour outstanding performances by television ensembles in Australian comedy, drama and miniseries programs that aired in the last 12 months.

There were 27 Australian ensemble television casts eligible across the three categories.

Equity President Chloe Dallimore says: “When surrounded by a team of passionate, talented hard working fellow performers we create our best work. This is certainly the case for our winning ensemble casts. The voting was extremely close and the casts of Utopia, Peter Allen and The Principal should feel very honoured that their work was chosen as the best of the best by those who know exactly what it takes to create an outstanding performance. ”

The Equity Ensemble Awards are the only performer-voted awards in Australia. Last year’s recipients were Rake, The Moody’s and ANZAC Girls.

Winners will be honoured with Dinosaur Design trophies at an awards ceremony in Melbourne in June.
