The Equity Foundation is thrilled to announce that Queensland-based performer Madeline Exarhos is the winner of the inaugural 2018 Home and Away Internship.
Madeline was selected by the casting department of Home and Away from more than 150 applicants.
The six finalists announced last week were: Mirabai Pease (Actors Program Auckland), Sam Corlett (WAAPA), Morgan Francis (QUT), Madeline Exarhos (QUT), Chika Ikogwe (NIDA) and Michael Cameron (WAAPA).
Home and Away series producer Lucy Addario says there was an impressive pool of talent to choose from. “We’re delighted to see so many talented actors entering the industry. Madeline will have the opportunity for an unprecedented look into the inner workings of Home and Away and we hope the experience is a valuable and fun introduction to what we are sure will be a long and prosperous career”.
Madeleine is a 2018 graduate of the Queensland University of Technology’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) degree.
Of being selected for the internship Madeline says she was thrilled to be among the finalists, let alone win: “It's such a privilege to have this opportunity straight out of graduating. I am so excited for this internship and cannot wait to get started and learn from industry professionals.”
This paid internship is made possible with the generous support of Media Super. Madeline will receive return flights and accommodation for the duration of the internship. She will also be paid at the appropriate award rate.
Media Super CEO Graeme Russell says: “We’re really pleased to give a talented student like Madeline the chance to work on a successful Australian TV production like Home and Away. As the industry’s own super fund, we’re committed to working with our industry partners to create new opportunities for established and emerging talent. We’re sure that our members appreciate the benefit of our modest investment in helping to build a stronger creative arts sector in Australia.”
