The Equity Foundation is pleased to present an opportunity to join one of NZ's leading casting directors Miranda Rivers, The Casting Company, for a full day working on your casting skills. Up to 20 Equity financial members will work intensively with Miranda. Each attendee will have a quick read through, then record a take and then review the footage and discuss the performance. All participants will be able to observe this process.
Bio of host:
Miranda Rivers is co-director of The Casting Company with Tina Cleary. Mir & Tina have worked together for over 20 years as a unique team and the only all-female duo casting team in NZ. Both trained originally as actors and have a long term love of performance and the craft of acting. They are passionate about putting NZ actors on the international stage and raising the awareness of gender equality in all areas of film making. Miranda’s work ranges from big budget films such as Avatar, The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings Trilogies and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2 to films such as the western Slow West and the comedy horror film Krampus. Working on Tusi Tamasese’s film One Thousand Ropes was a career highlight. Other memorable collaborations with directors include Alison Maclean’s The Rehearsal, Gaylene Preston’s Home by Christmas and Thomas Robin’s tele-feature Catching the Black Widow and Daffodils - a NZ feature film by David Stubbs.
