Equity is very proud to announce the fifth of the Howard Fine Acting Studio’s special masterclasses for Equity members; David Coury's Transform Your Audition With Your Voice Masterclass. David Coury is the head vocal coach at Howard Fine Acting Studio and runs singing and speech programs that focus on connecting to self, being fully expressed and technical vocal ability. In this practical audition workshop for actors and singers, Mr Coury will work through his strategies on how to find your own voice, how to find great material and how to release that voice into the material. David will also focus on the vocal ramifications of your interactions with casting directors, writers, producers and directors. Participants should come with a prepared monologue or song to present. Be sure to bring two copies of your material. An accompanist will be provided.
Bio of host: David Coury
Howard Fine Acting Studio is where David Coury makes his artistic home in Los Angeles and Australia where he serves as its Voice Director. Actors travel from all over the world to study with him in his Singing & Speech For Actors Program (SFA). The SFA series transforms the voices and lives of actors, therefore revolutionizing their work. “The greatest gift you can give an actor is the gift of discovering and appreciating their true voice. Actors are human beings first, not great pretenders. I had been helping people for years from all walks of life ‘find their voice’ with remarkable results when Howard asked that I create a voice program for actors. He and I have the same philosophy: YOU are every character you will ever play. Thus, you must have access to all of your voice.”
David Coury is an international voice expert and teacher whose proprietary voice and presentation method has transformed everyone, from his corporate to celebrity clients, into powerful and engaging professionals with potent vocal capabilities in their fields. The voices of Deloitte, Verizon, Avery Dennison, Trial Partners Inc., Billy Bush, Leona Lewis, Lance Bass, Billy Ray Cyrus, Carla Gugino, Roger Bart, Elizabeth Berkley, Ariel Winter, Rachel Crow and Mariette Hartley are as distinct as their teacher David Coury - the man and the method. Named a "Mover & Shaker" by leading self-help and transformational publisher Hay House, David Coury’s unique combining and application of the physical voice with the metaphysical voice is helping so many make a greater impact in the world. Of his many television appearances, he still cites the episode on ABC's original Extreme Makeover that featured his staggering transformation of a young rapper with a severe cleft palate. "Everyone wants to be seen and heard," says Mr. Coury, "the voice, ultimately, can and will reflect who-you-really-are."
