The Equity Professional Program

The Equity Foundation hosts more than 100 events a year throughout Australia and New Zealand. The program is developed in close collaboration with performers.

The Equity Foundation's masterclasses are designed to address our members’ need for ongoing professional development and provide rare opportunities to work with leading directors, coaches and casting agents.
Our workshop series is an opportunity to work on specifics, such as acting for the camera, comedy, dancing, voiceovers and accents. Up to 10 members work over a two-hour period with an expert in their field.
In Conversation
As part of the foundation’s In Conversation series, performers are given the opportunity to attend an intimate question and answer session with leading international actors and directors. Sir Ian McKellen, Richard E Grant, Sam Neill, and Cate Blanchett are among those who have participated in the In Conversation events.
Casting Hothouse 
Each year the Equity Foundation hosts a Casting Hothouse, which gives performers a unique opportunity to work with international casting agents, such as CBS TV Studios’ vice president of casting Matt Skrobalak and US feature film casting director Margery Simkin.
Student Days
We know how difficult it can be getting a toehold in the entertainment industry, so each year the Equity Foundation holds an industry day designed to provide graduates with important information and tools to help them on their way to a successful performance career.

Physical And Mental Movement With Louise Siversen

Event description:

A chance to work with actor and teacher Louise Siversen utilizing Alba Emoting, Michael Checkhov and Movement Continuum.  Using a combination of techniques and methods Louise will assist you to experience greater imaginative freedom and connection with the work. Using Alba Emoting, Michael Chekhov, Movement Continuum and other prompts to dive deep into text through your body. Somatic practices allow the actor to bypass the brain and go straight to impulse. Louise will guide you on a day of discovery and release, to help inspire your practice with joy.

Please note: there is some preparation for this masterclass. This is for experienced actors only. Those who have completed a three year/tertiary qualification or those who have worked as a professional actor for at least three years.

Bio of host:
Louise is a highly respected and accomplished actor who has worked extensively in film, television, theatre and voice over for more than 40 years. Louise has appeared in many of Australia’s most respected TV shows with lead roles in series such as Prisoner, Flying Doctors, Janus, Short Cuts, High Fliers and Backberner to name a few. Most recently Louise played Miss Looby in all five seasons of House Husbands and is currently working on The Gloamers for STAN. Her Theatre credits include Noises Off for QT/MTC, Memory of Water MTC, All About my Mother MTC and many more. Film credits include That Eye the Sky, The Book of Revelation, Eye of the Storm amongst others. Louise is currently recording Dr. Lynne Kelly’s second audio book Memory Craft. Louise has been co-creating and producing a number of projects for Theatre and TV with other talented artists in the field.

Louise has been teaching and lecturing in drama and voice over at VCA Drama and Film Schools, NIDA, Deakin University, National Theatre and in private practice for over 25 years. She has been studying in the US since 1996 and is the only certified CL2 teacher in Alba Emoting in Australia. Louise has been working with the Michael Chekhov Association since 2013 combining the work with different methods to enable actors to feel a sense of freedom and joy in the work. She teaches privately in Melbourne and Sydney and regularly holds workshops for professional actors in both cities. Louise is deeply interested in challenging and expanding her skills base so  she can best serve her own work and the work of others.
