Synopsis

A 2.5-hour workshop in emotional movement and embodiment for queer, rainbow, LGBT and takatāpui creatives.
Where do we hold our rage? The anger at systems that fail us, the frustration we swallow to stay safe, the fury we've learned to suppress? This workshop offers a rare space to honour what lives in our bodies – and to move through it with intention, safety and power.
Award-winning performance artist Hamish Annan guides participants through practical, repeatable techniques for channelling and releasing aggression through physical expression. Drawing on his extensive background as an actor, coach and creator of the acclaimed participatory performance Access, Hamish creates a supportive environment where rage becomes movement, and movement becomes liberation.
This is physical work. You'll explore impulse, breath, voice and body - connecting with emotion through movement, not through memory or personal history. You'll sweat, sound, move, and connect deeply with yourself and others in the room, and leave with tools you can use long after the workshop ends. Previous participants have called it "a new way to access human emotions in a grounding way" and praised Hamish's skill in "holding a really open and encouraging energy for everyone to engage with the work."
No dance, movement or acting background required – this workshop is open to all creatives, all experience levels. Just bring a willingness to be present, feel deeply and show up for yourself.
Please wear comfortable clothes for moving and sweating in. If you have an injury or physical restrictions, contact our team to see if this workshop is right for you.
Come ready to honour what you carry, release what no longer serves you, and move forward with clarity and strength.
PLEASE NOTE:   (1.)  there are very limited numbers and successful applicants will be advised on the Monday 9th February.  (2.)  If you are not an Equity member enter "0000" in the member number field.
