Synopsis

  •  12 November 2026
     10:00 am - 12:00 pm

A Sydney in person Clowning workshop with Hurrah Hurrah:

Hurrah Hurrah is a Sydney-based independent theatre company creating bold, genre-defying performances that blend comedy, stunning visual theatre, and powerful storytelling. With a distinctive voice rooted in playfulness, Hurrah Hurrah crafts new work that is as entertaining as it is thought-provoking, often walking the  fine line between the ridiculous and the tragic.

Clowning is a vital part of Hurrah Hurrah’s work. From the search for joy, to honesty and vulnerability and just enjoying being ridiculous with each other, clowning infuses Hurrah Hurrah’s work no matter how serious or silly.

Led by Alison Bennett and Rose Maher, this workshop will open you up to the possibilities of play and vulnerability that only clowning can bring. You will explore

  • Deep listening,
  • Trusting the act of being and not doing,
  • Your unique inner paradox and
  • The glorious art of failing.

This workshop is ideal for actors and creatives who are eager to find real freedom in performance and who have a curiosity about the parts of themselves that remain undiscovered.

Places are limited. If oversubscribed, participants will be selected by ballot, and all applicants will be notified. Please note: This event is at 10:00am AEDT (Sydney time) at the MEAA Sydney Office Conference Room, 245 Chalmers Street, Redfern, NSW.
