What does it mean to make a role your own? Over two sessions, we will discuss and explore the balancing act between honoring a script/story and embodying a role in a way that stays true to you and your artistic point of view. Session 1 on July 15: Script Analysis – Finding You & Your Voice within a text: In session one, two contrasting pieces will be analyzed and broken down to ready for performance. We will look at the bones of a scene to find what excites YOU as an artist and storyteller. It’s all about finding your unique way IN to a character and imbuing a role with your life experiences while staying true to the essential storytelling elements. Session 2 on July 22: Performance – Going further: With a week between sessions, you will have the option to tape and submit! Julian will choose self tapes to explore in depth within the second livestream and for those, due to time limitations, that are not chosen, he will offer a brief written assessment via email. Please note: this two-part class will be hosted on zoom by Julian Curtis on July 15 and July 22 from 10am- 11am Australian Eastern Standard Time (NSW/VIC/QLD/TAS) and 12-1pm NZ time.
