Synopsis

After spending 34 years assisting actors to avoid falling into the most common traps Richard Sarell evolved a new vocabulary for actors. In this session Richard explains why actors are finding the clarity of these techniques is opening the door to lead roles.  They see the advantages that lie in the value of: - Specific Terms modelled on the way psychologists recognise the human mind makes decisions.
  • Logical Understandings that drive an actor’s listening.
  • Practical Routines that produce consistent results. -
  • Growth in Confidence from using a process that they totally understand and completely trust.
This process is unique because making choices is now simpler and changing them is fun. Efficiency and effectiveness are the consistent outcomes of this new technique. Please note: This event will take place at 12-1pm AEST and 2-3pm NZ time. You will be sent a Zoom link in advance.

Host(s)

  • Richard Sarell

Richard Sarell is a director with 25 years experience of TV drama. He has also directed two very successful plays (Hobson’s Choice and The Memory of Water) and has been training actors for 34 years. In April this year he published “ACTING REVOLUTION” which describes with great clarity the uniquely practical techniques explored at The Rehearsal Room’s classes. They have evolved into a complete acting process. The book not only describes how to efficiently create character and place that character in the story but also explains the best ways to make those decisions. Kala Gare who is playing the lead in “My Brilliant Career” at the MTC in November says, “The Rehearsal Room has left a big impact on my actor’s brain. I have used it for screen work, straight theatre work and now in musical theatre, all with great success.”
