Synopsis

Due to the COVID uncertainty in NSW we have made the decision to change our Sydney Arts Industry Get Together from an in person event to online via Zoom. These sessions are about surviving and thriving as a creative under the new circumstances we find ourselves in 2021. The first session at 10.15 will feature clinical psychologist/co-author of Living With A Creative Mind Dr Julie Crabtree and actor/writer Chika Ikogwe who will focus on creating healthy boundaries. The second session At 11.45 am will feature senior economics writer Jessica Irvine (The Age/SMH), senior business development manager Jonathan Venables, (Media Super) and actor Jason Chong who will discuss how to reduce financial stress in times of hardship. Please note: Once you have registered we will send you a zoom link that you can use for both or either sessions.

  • Jessica Irvine

    Jessica Irvine is one of Australia's most respected economics and finance commentators, noted for her ability to explain complex ideas in an easy-to-understand and often amusing way. A veteran of 17 federal budgets, today she is senior economics writer for Nine Entertainment’s newspapers, including The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. Her popular Sunday column and weekly digital newsletter "Money with Jess" puts the 'personal' back into personal finance, sharing candid details of her own budgeting and investing journey in a bid to help readers engage with and understand their own finances.  Previously, she was National Economics Editor of News Corp Australia’s metropolitan mastheads, including Sydney’s Daily Telegraph and Melbourne’s Herald Sun.  Jessica has an honours degree in Economics (Social Sciences) from The University of Sydney and is the author of two books: "Zombies, bananas and why there are no economists in heaven" and "The bottom line diet”. 
  • JASON CHONG

    Jason is a Sydney based actor who graduated from NIDA IN 1996. He has worked in Film, TV, Theatre and as a Voice over Artist both locally and Internationally. In 2017 he was nominated for a Helpman Award for Best Actor in ‘Chimerica’ for the Sydney Theatre Company and in 2018 won Best Actor for ‘Blacklips’ at the Canberra short film festival. In Theatre he has worked for: The Sydney Theatre Company: Mosquitoes, Chimerica, She Stoops To Conquer, The Tempest Belvoir Street Theatre: My Brilliant Career Bell Shakespeare Company: Macbeth State Theatre Company South Australia: November Darwin Theatre Company/ Tamarama Rock Surfers: Constance Drinkwater and The Final Days Of Somerset. Regent Theatre: The Original Cast of We Will Rock You. Critical Stages: King of Pigs For Netflix he has performed in ‘Marco Polo’, ‘Pine Gap’ and more recently ‘The New Legends Of Monkey’. Other TV credits include: Seachange, Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries, Bite Club, Wolf Creek series 2, Janet King, Dance Academy, Satisfaction,The Forgotten and Melrose Place to name a few. In Film he was in Little Monsters, Blacklips, Guardians Of The Tomb, Happy Feet,The Forbidden Kingdom, See No Evil, Little Fish, The Pact , Better Than Sex, Icaris, In the Red and Wanted. Jason has been a proud Equity Member for over 25 Years.
