This practical session delivered by sports physiotherapists Annie Strauch and Elise McMahon from Performance Medicine is designed to focus on helping performers in the arts industry learn strategies to help maintain healthy, resilient bodies. The session will explore safe warm up principles, effective recovery strategies, and the shared responsibility performers have to care for their “instrument” – their body.
The session is particularly relevant for music theatre performers.

Annie Strauch
Annie Strauch is a passionate performance physiotherapist with extensive experience working with professional performers and athletes.A titled APA Sports & Exercise and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, Annie holds both a Masters in Sports & Exercise Physiotherapy and a Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.Annie is also one of Australia’s leading Vocal Physiotherapists.Performance Medicine has now grown to be an international provider of physiotherapy and physical health services to many Australian and International touring productions providing injury prevention, treatment and movement development.
Elise McMahon
Elise is an APA Titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist with extensive experience in both private practice, sports, and onsite with performers and elite athletes.Having been trained in classical ballet, and elite level calisthenics, Elise has the passion and knowledge of optimal movement and alignment for injury prevention and management. She has also enjoyed working events with Gymnastics Victoria and completed clinical training at the Royal Ballet in London. She is also currently an onsite sports physiotherapist at Waverly Gymnastics where she works with the elite, Commonwealth games and Olympic games squads. Elise is a published author in the field of dance medicine. Her knowledge shown in her research identifies the risk factors and management approach required for performers to return to the stage.
