Synopsis

Equity's Livestream Program continues with casting directors Stephanie Pringle and Alison Fowler of Chicken and Chips Casting, in conversation with Queenie van de Zandt, talking all things auditions, casting,  current and past projects, the actor/casting director relationship and answering all your questions. Please note: This event will take place via Zoom at 12pm Australian Eastern Standard Time and 2pm NZ time.

    Steph and Al, co-founders of Chicken and Chips Casting, bring a unique approach to the casting process. Renowned as multi-format casting directors in advertising, TV, and film, they are dedicated to fostering collaboration among directors, producers, and actors. Recent achievements include the success of the Australian thriller Birdeater (SXSW 2024 & SFF People’s Choice Winner 2023), 2024 AACTA Nominated for Best Indie Film A Savage Christmas, the 2021 AACTA Award-winning Ellie & Abbie (and Ellie’s Dead Aunt), Cannes Series-selected Deadhouse Dark and the anticipated My Eyes starring Adam Garcia & Tsushan Chambers, along with a string of shorts that have garnered top tier international and local film festival success. In 2024 the duo were named IF Magazine's Rising Talent in Casting. Known for their fresh and frank casting style, Steph and Al create a safe and innovative environment for directors and producers, challenging them to think differently. The duo have earned a reputation for advocating on-screen diversity and leave no stone unturned when it comes to discovering talent and piecing together exciting ensembles. Beyond their work with directors and producers, Steph and Al are strong believers in providing grassroots opportunities for actors. They offer accessible resources and workshops to demystify the casting process, making their audition room the most fun in the biz.

  • Queenie van de Zandt

    Queenie van de Zandt is one of Australia’s most distinguished musical theatre, cabaret and comedy performers. She’s been nominated for 22 awards for her work, winning 9 times. Queenie’s released 5 albums, is the host body for her cult comedy character, Jan van de Stool, and continues to tour around Australia & Internationally with her multi-award-winning show, BLUE: The Song of Joni Mitchell.
