Synopsis

Note: Improv Club runs across 4 consecutive Wednesday evenings: UPDATED - POSTONED BY ONE WEEK, now starts on February 8th, then 15th and 22nd and 1st March. In order to participate you need to ideally be able to commit to all four evenings. Come along and learn the fundamental improvisation techniques, and discover your own unique voice and style. Learn how to fail with joy, generate creative offers and strengthen your ability to collaborate with your scene partners. Become a more playful, open and spontaneous actor! Unlock the charismatic performer inside yourself, and learn how to improvise with, without and around a script!

  • Millie Hanford

    Millie is an experienced drama and improvisation tutor who has led a variety of drama and improvisation classes and masterclasses for Christchurch’s Court Theatre since 2016. Millie spent five years as a member of Court Theatre’s professional improvisation troupe the Court Jesters, regularly performing in Scared Scriptless; New Zealand’s longest running late night comedy show. In 2021 Millie launched and led the Court Jesters Youth Company, a space for 16-22 year olds to grow find their unique voice and style through improvisation. She has performed in numerous Court Theatre productions. Millie is also a certified dance teaching specialising in Jazz, Tap and Ballet, having gained BAL Tap Advanced and ADJA Jazz Advanced Two with Honours. She had just recently graduated from The Actor’s Program in 2022.
