This is a rare chance to hear from leading actor and theatre director Effie Nkrumah (who’s acclaimed career has spanned directing MJ the Musical and acting in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) to get a behind the scenes look at the creative process, how stage productions are cast, the actor/director relationship, how to have the best chance of a successful stage career, what you need to know about the industry and the steps that theatre directors take to get a production up and running.     Effie Nkrumah is an energetic and accomplished multi-hyphenate creative and cultural leader of Ghanaian descent. A contributor to Maxine Beneba Clarke’s Growing Up African in Australia anthology, Effie holds an MA in Arts Politics from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she further defined her creative practice.Driven by a desire to challenge the single story of Africa through the diverse experiences of Africans in the diaspora, Effie creates and champions work that is entertaining, aesthetically compelling and thought-provoking.Her acting credits include Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Seven Methods of Killing Kylie Jenner. Her directing credits include MJ the Musical, Akaraka, Illarun: The Cutting Comb and See What I See for Tableau Vivant, with her work presented across Sydney, New York and Accra.Beyond her creative practice, Effie is an experienced community engagement practitioner, keynote speaker and facilitator, bringing her energetic, inclusive and culturally informed approach to conversations, collaborations and communities.
