Synopsis

Two session opportunities for NSW Equity acting/performing arts students to join world-leading Intimacy Professionals Alicia Rodis and Claire Warden: In August the Equity Foundation is bringing HBO studios’ intimacy co-ordinator Alicia Rodis and Broadway’s first intimacy director Claire Warden from NYC to Sydney for a series of industry training events on the role of the intimacy coordinator/director and how to navigate intimate scenes safely. NSW acting students and teachers are invited to join Alicia Rodis and Claire Warden at a presentation and practical workshop, based on the training they provide at Julliard, Yale, NYU, Brown/Trinity, Brandeis, Stella Adler, the O’Neill Theatre Center, Muhlenberg College and Sarah Lawrence. Topics covered include: How do we create a culture of consent in which intimate stories can be told with safety and artistry? What is current best practise around stage and screen intimacy? How should we even begin to approach intimate scenes?  Who is responsible for what? And what does a Intimacy Co-ordinator even do? These events will not only provide an exceptional introduction to working with intimacy but will guide students and staff to understand their roles and relationship to an intimacy professional, providing a framework for their professional practice. The session will include a Q & A session for participants to engage directly with Alicia and Claire. This event is open to all educators and students.  Once you have registered you will receive an email confirmation for both the morning and afternoon sessions. We encourage you to join Equity to get access to other future events and opportunities.  (Join by ringing 1300 65 65 13 or online:  www.meaa.org/join).  Student Membership is only $52 per year ($1 per day). The Presentation and Q&A: 60 mins presentation and 45 mins Q&A will take place from 10.00 am to 11.45 am AEST. and the: Practical Workshop: Two-hours with 12 students participating and an audience viewing will take place from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm - AEST:
