Synopsis

NOTE - THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FEBRUARY 2025. In this immersive poetry workshop for our maōri and moana nui members, you will explore your authentic voices through a blend of writing exercises, group discussion, and reflective practice. Together, the group will focus on how tapping into your unique self-expression can expand your creative capacity, allowing your work to resonate with clarity, power, and emotional truth. Whether you're a seasoned writer or new to poetry, this workshop invites you to discover and celebrate your voice in ways that can deepen your connection to your art—and to others.

    Grace Iwashita-Taylor is an artist of upu | words, in written, performed, and visual forms. Breathing bloodlines of Samoan, English, and Japanese heritage, born and based in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Dedicated to holding spaces for storytellers of Te Moana-nui-a- Kiwa. Writer of My Own Darling (2015), curator of poetic theatre production UPU (2020). Published two poetry collections, Afakasi Speaks (2013) and Full Broken Bloom (2017), with Ala Press, Hawaii. She is currently working on a new body of work, Water Memories.
