Creatives are often told to “make their own work” – but that means learning how to produce a project from beginning to end, which is a huge responsibility and a daunting prospect.

Make Your Own Work is a comprehensive workshop that addresses every aspect of taking an initial idea and turning it into a completed event, film, game, exhibition or anything.

The workshop is suitable for all practitioners, regardless of experience or creative practice. Filmmakers, theatre practitioners, performers, visual artists, writers and musicians – all are welcome to learn the essential steps to getting self-devised work out of the imagination and into the real world.

Participants will learn the following, with a special focus on arts practice and creative industries:

+ Steps to making sure the idea for self-devised work is feasible and achievable.

+ Making the decision – The magic of cost-benefit and risk analysis.

+ Ways to find the resources you need, including helpers, funding and gear to get started;

+ Managing the legal aspects of producing your own work.

+ What to do when it’s done? The basics of finding an audience.
