Mandarin Accent with Nikki Zhao
Nikki ZhaoYuanlei (Nikki) Zhao is a freelance dialect coach, voice artist and teaching artist based in Naarm/Melbourne. Originally from Shanghai, Nikki became a wedding singer to maintain her Mandarin speaking skills after her migration, and is now one of Melbourne's highly sought bilingual master of ceremonies. Theatre includes: 4.48 Psychosis (dir: Andy Ng Wai-Shek), When Vampires Shop (dir: Flynn Hall), Goldilocks (dir: Michael Gow), Abbotsford DNA Through Time (dir: Ching Ching Ho) Nikki has an MFA in Voice and attended the Lessac Body and Voice Intensives and gained her practitioner certification with the Lessac Training and Research Institute. Before the pandemic, Nikki travelled to Singapore to teach performing arts, dance and acting students at LASALLE College of the Arts and Intercultural Theatre Institution (ITI), and observed classes at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and Chowk Productions. In 2022, Nikki was a recipient of the Creative Victoria’s Creative Learning Partnerships grant with Ching Ching Ho.
