So you think you’ve got a pretty good handle on a general American accent. But can you blend the accent with your acting to really bring a script to life? In this workshop participants will learn how to “score” their scripts and sides to help embed their general American accent and make it “sing”. Jacque will help actors achieve greater authenticity by considering rhythm, tempo and tone, in addition to pronunciation. She’ll share practical techniques to use while learning your script, in order to integrate the accent with the acting choices you make. Please note: This event is at 12:00pm AEST (Sydney/Melbourne time) and 2pm NZ time. You will be sent a Zoom link to tune in.

Jacque Drew
Jacque is Aotearoa/New Zealand’s most in-demand dialect coach, specialising in US accents/dialects. She works regularly on New Zealand-based International screen productions including —The Legend of Zelda, East of Eden, Zombies 4 and 5, Evil Dead Burn, The Wrecking Crew, Sweet Tooth, One of Us is Lying, Evil Dead Rise, The Wilds, Shadow in the Cloud, and many more). She has also provided voice/dialect coaching for Silo Theatre Company and the Auckland Theatre Company. Her unique approach to integrating accent and acting, combined with her knowledge of professional industry practice, have made her an integral part of professional instruction at Auckland’s top actor training programmes (The Actor’s Programme, Unitec, South Seas, Toi Whakaari, and NZ Equity master classes).Additionally, Jacque offers workshops for professional actors, as well as one on one coaching. As a seasoned professional actor, Jacque approaches coaching with empathy and skill, helping fellow actors create confident, competent and authentic performances.
