Synopsis

  •  30 September 2024
     5:30 pm - 7:55 pm

Please note this is an IN PERSON workshop at the Sydney Actors School. Actors are often called upon to perform moments of theatrical violence or heightened physical risk but rarely get the opportunity to hone and train these physical skills. Without this opportunity, performing dynamic, truthful and safe fights onstage is very difficult. This workshop explores the fundamental principles and concepts behind performing safe and theatrically effective fights and provides participants with an understanding of industry relevant skills that help create and choreograph fights in professional rehearsal rooms. Learning the building blocks to safely falling, manipulating others and delivering convincing blows will provide the foundation to develop skills further. Due to the physical demands of the workshop only a limited number of people will be able to take part but we will reschedule more if there is a demand. Please note: The workshop will take place from 5.30 pm to 7.55pm on Monday September 30 2024 at the Sydney Actors School.

Host(s)

  • Tim Dashwood

Tim has been working in Theatre and the Arts since graduating as an actor in 2005. His professional artistic work has included being an actor, fight director, movement consultant and producer. Seeing a separation between the Arts world and finance, he has spent the last seven years building experience and qualifications in the accounting world with an intention to support and empower artists with more financial literacy, focus and comfort. Maintaining his artistic practice, he now splits his time between both camps wanting to blur the edges - after all, that's why it's called 'the business'. Tim holds a Masters in Professional Accounting, is a member of the Institute of Public Accountants and is the current CFO of Tom Oliver Productions.
