Synopsis

The Art of Commercial Auditioning - with Harriett Maire from Good Egg Casting   In this workshop, we’ll break down the commercial audition process from preparation to performance, equipping you with tools to approach auditions with confidence and familiarity.   The day will begin with a broad discussion of the casting process, focusing on key practices and techniques to help you walk into the room feeling grounded, familiar, and curious.   We’ll run mock commercial auditions, which we’ll watch back as a group for constructive feedback to close out the day.   The workshop will be led with empathy and respect - creating a supportive space to uplift each other's mahi, and refine our craft.

Host(s)

  • Harriett Maire

Harriett Maire is the founder of Good Egg Casting. She’s been casting commercials and finding good eggs for the past decade, and has recently moved into casting long-form narrative work as well.  Harriett has a background in formal theatre training. She performed on the Globe Stage in London and starred in a couple of webseries before realising her true calling is on the other side of the process. She graduated AUT as the Television and Screen Production Graduate of the Year in 2015.  In addition to casting, Harriett is an award-winning director, with work spanning across theatre, drama and commercials. Her breadth of experience means she is fluent in the languages of directing and acting - the two languages a casting director needs to speak.  Harriett facilitates a casting room that feels safe, collaborative, and non-judgemental. She takes time to connect and build trust with each person. She knows we get better performances out of actors that feel comfortable and confident.
