Synopsis

A workshop on auditioning in the room and via a self-test with casting director Allison Meadows.  Equity member Camilla Ah Kin will talk to Allison about  essentials such as: preparing the material, preparing mentally, physically and psychologically for the audition as well as preparing your mindset and the do’s and don’ts in the room and for self-testing.

    Allison is highly regarded for her expertise and skill in bringing together unique ensemble casts which successfully blend experienced actors with exciting new talent and “actuals”. Her passion for working closely with culturally diverse communities can be seen in a wide range of projects including SUNSHINE, ALI’s WEDDING, PARTISAN and the recent ABC drama series STATELESS. In 2018 Allison was awarded the inaugural AACTA Award for Best Casting for RIOT and the prestigious International D& AD award for Casting for Film Advertising for STOP THE HORROR. Allison continues to cast film, television and advertising projects and absolutely loves her work. She is currently working with Carver Films on Daina Reid’s feature film RUN RABBIT RUN and Co Curious on HERE OUT WEST.
  • Camilla Ah Kin

    Camilla Ah Kin is an Acting graduate of WAAPA. She continued further study with a Sorbonne Cultural Scholarship at Ecole du Theatre Jacques Lecoq in Paris. Later, she completed a post-graduate Masters by Research with the Centre for Performance Studies at the University of Sydney, her research was awarded a High Distinction. Over her career, Camilla has performed with many theatre companies such as the Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, Belvoir St, Griffin Theatre, WA State Theatre Company, Sport For Jove and Darlinghurst Theatre Company to name a few. Her most recent film and TV credits include Holding the Man, Fighting Season, Here Come the Habibs and the soon to air Wakefield. Alongside acting Camilla also works on the dramaturgy of new plays, teaches acting and has been a proud continuous member of Equity since 1990.
