Throughout an athlete’s career, training the body for elite performance comes with highs and lows, and will include managing and preventing injuries, overuse, and fatigue. Performers, particularly actors and singers, are vocal athletes. The voice is a part of the muscular system, and is therefore susceptible to pain, fatigue, and injury, just like the rest of our bodies. This workshop will discuss the vocal athlete, what to do if an injury does happen, and how you can take steps to prevent it. Learn some tips for caring for your voice, try some exercises for the vocal muscles, and have a chance to volunteer for voice physiotherapy input in a workshop-style setting.
